BJP leader Dilip Ghosh on Wednesday reacted to Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee's participation in the all-party delegation visiting four countries as part of 'Operation Sindoor'. The delegation aims to highlight the recent terror attack and raise India’s concerns regarding Pakistan on an international platform. Abhishek Banerjee left for Delhi from Kolkata Airport earlier in the day to join the team. Ghosh said, “Good that TMC is participating. Earlier, it was heard they were going to boycott the initiative.”
Ghosh stated that the public sentiment in India following recent attacks has played a role in Trinamool Congress’s decision to join the diplomatic mission. “The way public anger has grown against Pakistan, the way public opinion has been formed — TMC would have faced difficulty had they not joined,” said Ghosh. He further added, “They were forced to take this decision under some political pressure. Otherwise, it would have been difficult to face people in the state.”
On a separate note, Ghosh referred to recent incidents of violence in Murshidabad. He said, “TMC leaders do not visit Murshidabad when attacks happen. Mamata Banerjee went there after 15 days, and that too quietly. When Hindus are attacked and their homes set on fire, why doesn’t the ruling party protest in the same way?” Ghosh made the comments a day after TMC announced that a five-member delegation would visit Jammu and Kashmir.
